Spring...and almost Summer fun

It has been a while since I "blogged". I don't really think I can call myself a blogger, but oh well. Here is what is going on with us in Durango.
Summer is approaching and we have been very busy. My parents were here during the month of April and in May we went to Madison to visit cousins and the rest of our family of course. May in Durango has been hot, but it has not stopped us from enjoying hiking the Colorado trails and biking around town....yes I am still biking on my cruiser bike that Chris bought me for mothers day.  Chris rode in the Iron Horse bike ride which goes from Durango to Silverton and Laurel competed in her own Iron Horse bike race. She did a great job racing her tricycle!!
During the first week of June we quickly headed to Denver for one day and then up to the mountain to camp at Buffalo Creek. We meet up with our friends the Hoogendoorn's for a weekend of super fun camping. It was Laurel's first real camping experience and she seems to love sleeping in the tent and playing around outside all day.
Well our next big adventure will be happening right here in Durango...we will welcome the newest addition to the family sometime near the 25th of July. We will keep you posted.

Easter morning...Laurel enjoying her Spring bunny basket

Easter weekend

We had a great Easter weekend. We were very busy and had some of our favorite visitors in town. Our dear friends and lovers of Laurel CJ and Susan came from Grand Junction to spend Easter weekend with us. We dyed (the first time use of natural dies) our Easter eggs and they came out beautiful. The colors were amazing I was really impressed and will continue to do this in the future. On Saturday morning we took Laurel to the local Easter Egg hunt in the park. It was a hoot...there were tons of toddlers and lots o plastic Easter eggs stuffed with crappy candy, but Laurel seems to love it and we saw lots of friends that we have made over the past 4 months. I think the best thing about Easter in the park was the Easter bunny arriving on the fire truck.. so cool. Sunday morning Laurel was into finding her Spring basket as I try not to delve into the whole meaning of Easter. We have taken it on as our Spring Celebration. She found all kinds of fun items in her basket; a kite, a watering can and seeds to plant in our front yard. We had a lovely weekend and Laurel continues to be so inquisitive and articulate.

Berman's visit Durango

Life in Durango is great, but it is even better when we get to share it with wonderful friends. Last week we had our first official guests and let me tell you it was great to have Ken, Becky, Sammy and Lily for a visit. I know home is where the heart is, but I also know I am home when the Berman's come to see us. They were the first friends to visit us on the rez (only a few did) and now our first guests in Durango. We had a great time catching up and Sammy and Laurel played so well together. It was super fun for us to sit around and watch our kiddos play together, laugh lots and a day of skiing at Purgatory in Durango. Thanks for a great week you guys..you are fantastic friends.

Oh and by the way we are hoping for and expecting lots of guests...so please come on down.

It has been awhile

Well what can I say we are living in a mountain winter wonderland. We have gotten tons of snow this season in Durango. We have tried to make the best of it for sure. We have cross-country skied, made snow-people families and Laurel has been down hill skiing twice. Chris and I are so proud of how confident and determined Laurel is. She is always up for trying something new and seems to enjoy a good challenge. We took her skiing on Valentines Day and she loved it and she did an amazing job. We couldn't believe it!!
Life in Durango is going really well. Laurel and I have started taking come classes and we have meet some really great people who have welcomed us into the Dango community.-Laurel's language (aka Durango) We are taking a music class and a gymnastics class in which Laurel has never hesitated or questioned a new setting or experience...as long as I am there too! We are having a great time.
Here are a few pictures of all our fun.
